KIMT implements WSI's TruVu Max weather technology, only seen before on a few select television stations across the country.
[Mason City IA - July 20, 2009]--KIMT-TV's Storm Team 3 is once again leading the Rochester, MN, Mason City, IA and Austin, MN market by utilizing state-of-the-art weather technology known as TruVu Max.
KIMT is the first and only television station in North Iowa and Southern Minnesota to have high definition weather graphics. Viewers capable of receiving and displaying high definition video will notice the enhanced detail and crisp display of the weather graphics. When viewers watch the broadcast in high definition, the entire 16x9 widescreen display will be filled with additional weather information.
At the time of TruVu Max's launch at KIMT, fewer than 10 television stations in the entire United States used this new technology. Other markets using TruVu Max include: Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta and Washington, D.C.
TruVu Max allows for KIMT's meteorologists to use graphics that are revolutionizing the way weather is portrayed on television. TruVu Max was designed from scratch by meteorologists and computer programmers, who previously worked on developing 3D gaming software.
In addition to using TruVu Max on a daily basis, KIMT's meteorologists are working with WSI Corporation to further develop the technology by being WSI's lead station field trial site. WSI Corporation is the world's leading provider of weather-driven business solutions. WSI's products, services and software satisfy the professional weather needs of the most demanding media, aviation, energy trading and utility customers in the world.
By working closely with WSI's developers, KIMT's meteorologists have the ability to bring enhanced functionality and features to this new system. Therefore, KIMT will continue to be the first station in the country to receive the latest software upgrades to TruVu Max.
You can count on KIMT's meteorologists, Chief Meteorologist Adam Frederick, Assistant Chief
Meteorologist Jim Politis and Meteorologist Jessica McLaughlin to bring you complete and accurate weather forecasts using TruVu Max.
