Nielsen numbers for the February 2011 ratings period were released today and Hawaii FOX affiliate KHON2 is again the undisputed leader. Hawaii’s television viewers have chosen KHON2 – Hawaii’s News Leader as the station they prefer for all their news, information and entertainment. KHON2 is Hawaii’s highest-rated television station, making it the most-watched from sign-on to sign-off, averaging 40 percent of the Honolulu viewing audience.
KHON2’s “Wake Up 2day,” with the morning news team of Jai Cunningham, Olena Heu, Kirk Matthews, Manolo Morales, Trini Kaopuiki and newly-introduced traffic reporter Tammy Mori, continues to be neck-to-neck with the competition for that number one position. Hawaii’s morning news viewers for news, weather and traffic prefer “Wake Up 2day” over the network morning newscasts, The Today Show, Good Morning America and the CBS Morning News.
KHON2 News at Five with Ron Mizutani and weather anchor Justin Cruz once again claims the number one position with an 8 rating, reaching 51,000 viewers nightly – six thousand more than its closest competitor.
KHON2 News World Report with Joe Moore is once again number one with a 7 rating with 45,000 loyal viewers, beating all network world newscasts.
KHON2 News at Six with Joe Moore, sports anchor Kanoa Leahey and weather anchor Justin Cruz continues its decades-long domination of the television landscape with a 13 rating, representing 95,000 viewers, almost doubling its closest competitor.
KHON2 News at Ten with Joe Moore, sports anchor Kanoa Leahey and weather anchor Justin Cruz remains in the top tier of late-night newscasts with a 9 rating, representing 59,000 viewers.
The KHON2 Weekend News at Six and Ten with Marisa Yamane and Kathy Muneno builds on the weekend news domination and delivers more viewers than all the competition combined, separately on Saturday and Sunday nights.
Hawaii’s #1 game show, Wheel of Fortune continues its stronghold on the market as the lead-in to FOX primetime with a 14 rating, representing 107,000 viewers, putting it tens-of-thousands of viewers ahead of the competition.
FOX’s hit show Glee on Tuesday nights received a 12 rating, with a 9 and 10 rating in key demos across the board.
With the addition of the new judges to American Idol and its move to Wednesday and Thursday has expanded its audience nightly with an average 16 rating and 29 share, this phenomenal show continues its climb in viewership as the voting competition draws closer to the season finale in May.
Super Bowl XLV on KHON2 set a record for household viewership in Hawaii with a 49 rating. In fact, 85 percent of all people watching television were tuned to the Super Bowl (an unprecedented 470,000 viewers!
