Steve Martinson named Broadcaster of the Year by the Iowa Broadcaster Association

The Iowa Broadcasters Association has honored Steve Martinson, President/General Manager of KIMT Television in Mason City, Iowa as recipient of its Broadcaster of the Year award for 2012. The Iowa Broadcaster Association’s Iowa Broadcaster of the Year award recognizes Iowa radio and television station owners, President and /or General Managers who have provided exceptional leadership to their station and service to their community.

Nominated for his dedication to broadcasting and commitment to the community, Steve Martinson has been an Iowa Broadcaster for more than 24 years. In 1988 Steve joined KIMT News 3 as a Sales Account Executive, later he managed KIMT Sales, both on a local level and on a National basis and in 1999 was promoted to President/General Manager of KIMT News 3. In 2001, he became a Board Member of the Iowa Broadcasters Association and in 2006 he served as IBA’s President.

KIMT News 3 has become one of the most watched television stations in north Iowa and southern Minnesota with Steve’s commitment to community service and local news, weather and sports. KIMT News 3 most recently received the prestigious first place award for Overall Excellence in News from the Iowa Broadcast News Association. Steve was also instrumental in implementing KIMT’s community outreach program, Giving Your Best, which encourages and challenges viewers to give their best by giving back to the community through volunteering, and participation in KIMT’s Tools for Schools, KIMT’s Family Fair, and KIMT’s Back to School Supply Drive, and Toys for Tots. In addition to KIMT’s Giving Your Best program, under Steve’s leadership, KIMT is also very involved in the annual MS Walk, JDRF and live production each year of North Iowa’s Band Festival Parade.
